Amansie Central District is located in the southern part of the Ashanti Region, the District is one of the twenty-seven (27) Administrative Districts in the Ashanti Region and one of the 28 newly created District Assemblies in the country, and was established by Legislative Instrument (LI.) 1774, 2004. It has about 206 settlements with Jacobu as the Administrative capital. The district can be found within Latitude 6000N and 6030N and Longitudes 1000W and 2000W. The total area of the district is about 710sqkm.
It shares common boundaries with Bekwai Municipal formerly Amansie East to the north east, Amansie West to the west, Obuasi Municipal Assembly to the south east, Adansi North to the east, Adansi South to the south and Upper Denkyira in the Central Region to the south.

The Amansie Central District Assembly is committed to improving the quality of life of its people and has over the years devoted a lot of its resources in creating an enabling environment that will lead to food security, a well educated and healthy population.
The assembly, in line with the Ghana Poverty Reduction and the Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategies, has focused on the provisions of basic social infrastructure as well as human resource development.
In a bid to extend electricity to every part of the country especially to most deprived areas, 31 communities in the Amansie Central District in the Ashanti Region will soon be connected to national grid to boost economic activities in the area.
